PURPOSE:To obtain high S/N by employing a single crystal ferrite to a part of the face of a half core brought into contact with a magnetic medium, employing a polycrystal ferrite for other parts, and selecting the thickness of the single crystal ferrite layer as >=60mum. CONSTITUTION:The single crystal ferrite is used for the face of the half core in contact with the magnetic medium and the polycrystgal ferrite is used for the other part and the thickness of the single crystal ferrite is selected as 60mum or less. Since a very thin layer 11b of the core face in contact with the magnetic medium is made of the single crystal ferrite, the effect of the presence of the layer 11b onto the production of noise is very less, and since the other parts are made of the polycrystal ferrite, the S/N is much improved in comparison with the case employing only the single crystal ferrite. On the other hand, no exfoliation takes place in the particle fields in the layer 11b and wear resistance is high, then the duration period is prolonged and the layer withstands the mechanical processing, then the accuracy of track processing is improved. |
