<p>Herbicidal compsn. contains at least 1 active herbicide (A) and as antidote a cpd. of formula (I), pref. at 0.1-50 wt.% on (A). In (I) X is oxygen or nitrogen; n is zero when X is oxygen, or 1 when it is nitrogen; Y is H, K, halo, hydroxy or 1-4C alkyl opt. substd. by hydroxy or halo; Z is alkylene, cyclohexylene, cyclohexylidene or phenylene, opt. substd. by halo or nitro. Specified (I) are tetrachlorophthalic anhydride, cis-hexahydrophthalimide, N-hydroxyethylphthalimide or N-bromosuccinimide. (I) protect crop plants against the phytotoxic effects of thiolcarbamate, triazine, chloroacetanilide and urea type (A), and are more effective than commercial antidotes such as naphthalic anhdride. They can be applied at the same time as (A) or separately, e.g. the seeds are treated with (I) then plants in soil already treated with (A).</p> |
