An air inflated shelter comprises a flexible airproof envelope 1, a retaining net 2 covering same, retaining cables 3 attached to the net and passing through the envelope for connecting to tensioning cables 4 - - 7, ground anchoring means for the cables 7 and air-supply means 8. The envelope may consist of a plastic sheet, aluminium foil, woven fibres waterproofed by a vinyl or polyethylene coating or rubber reinforced by fibreglass. The net 2 may be in the form of a grid and made of steel cables or adhesive tapes &c., for fuller details of which the Specification should be referred to. A second grid of adhesive tape may be applied to the underside of the envelope 1 at an angle to the net 2. The cables 7 are anchored to the ground by harpoon-like devices and the margins of the envelope are covered with earth or sand to minimise air leaks.</p> |
