PURPOSE:To control a vibrating body without increase in hardness by providing a movable body in the position where the vibration of the vibrating body is maximum with regard to the vibration mode, suspending the movable body from the vibtating body with an elastic body having the hardness whose number of vibrations is smaller than that of natural vibrations of the vibrating body. CONSTITUTION:A slender pipe 3 whose vibrations are to be controlled is arranged vertically with the upper and lower ends thereof fixed to a fixed wall. This pipe 3 causes the maximum vibrations in its central part from the standpoint of the vibration mode. Then, in the position where the vibration of the pipe 3 is maximum a ring-shaped movable body 2 is provided with the proper space G. Moreover, the movable body 2 is suspended from a support 1 provided in the upper part of the pipe 3, with a spring 4. The hardness of the spring 4 is determined to be less than the number of the natural vobrations of the pipe 3. When the pipe 3 causes vibrations due to any outer disturbance, the pipe 3 and the movable body 2 repeat the collision with each other and the energy of vibration is absorbed by the quantity of e nergy to be lost for the collision, thus a damping effect being demonstrated. |
