PURPOSE:To obtain desired damping property with ease in a damper in which a damping action is given by the resistance produced when working fluid passes through an opening by using magnetic fluid as the working fluid and controlling its resistance by a magnetic field generating device. CONSTITUTION:The damping property of this damper fixed by a lower-part blocking board 15 is adjusted against an expected impact load in the following way. First a switch 30 is closed and a coil 21 is electrified to generate a magnetic field within and near a nozzle 19. By this the apparent viscosity of a magnetic fluid 20 found in this part is changed, which results in the change of the damping property. Accordingly, a variable resistance 32 is adjusted so as to obtain the desired damping property. When the impact load 35 acts on a receiving board 25 under the conditions, lower bellows 13 shrink, thereby a part of the magnetic fluid 20 passing through the nozzle 19 with the viscosity set as in the above, thus the desired damping action being produced. |
