1469176 Animal feed supplement DALGETY AGRI-LINES PTY Ltd 8 Aug 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 35019/74 Heading A2B An animal feed supplement is produced by finely dividing a lipid material into discrete particles in water, adding thereto a proteinaceous material, and finally adding an aldehyde to produce a protein/aldehyde complex encapsulating the discrete lipid particles. The lipid may include high melting point materials including tallows, lard and coconut oil. The production of the dispersion may be carried out at a temperature above 45‹C in water having an alkaline pH; it is also preferred to add a metallic salt prior to adding the aldehyde. Aluminium sulphate, calcium chloride and magnesium sulphate are specified. The proteinaceous material may be lactic-precipitated, casein, sodium caseinate, or a vegetable protein such as is derived from soya beans, peanuts, sunflowers, safflowers, cotton seeds, maize, rape and lupin. Formalin is the preferred aldehyde. The product may be in the form of a solid gel which may be fragmented and dried prior to incorporation in the feedstuff. |
