<p>A watch case assembled from a shallow metal dish with a stepped edge and a glass cover with an undercut metal rim makes use of a pair of annular mouldings to provide support for the work beneath a face or dial clamped between the mouldings and the rim of the cover. One of the two mouldins is pref. made of ABS, for dimensional stability and toughness and a low mass, the other moulding acts as a coaxial collar pref. made of silicone rubber held partly in compression to act both as a shock-absorbant mounting and as a seal within the joint between the watch case and the rim holding the glass.</p> |
