The machine cuts herbaceous plants such as grass, straw etc. It operates with a moving blade working against a fixed blade. The moving blade is formed by one or more rotary discs (1), permanently maintained in point-contact with the edge of the fixed blade (3), and travelling along it. One of the blades forms the knife and has a cutting edge working against the other, which can have a V-section groove of wider angle than the cutting edge of the knife.
