The light flicker generator is for modifying a brain wave pattern, and uses a pulsed light source with an electronic supply circuit providing modulated pulses corresponding to the upper frequencies of the electro-encephalogram curve. The generator also has at least one coloured disc and a variable diaphragm disc (10) with alternating transparent and opaque sectors (17, 18) both discs mounted on a common rotating shaft. The light from the source is reflected by a mirror onto a translucent screen, after passing through both discs. Pref. the peripheral edge of the sectors (17, 18) of the variable diaphragm disc (10) are stepped to conform to the shape of the EEG curve, with at least one totally transparent radial sector (19) corresponding to a given point on this curve.
