The extending table consists of two leaves (2, 3) which can be pulled apart to insert an extension (6, 7) in the middle. The two leaves forming the table top are opened and closed simultaneously. The central extension consists of two halves (6, 7) linked together and automatically pulled out or in at right angles to the direction in which the two leaves (2, 3) are opened and closed. The extension is inserted by means of slide-pieces (12, 13) fixed at each end to the leaves (2, 3) and mounted in the frame sections (16). Angle pieces (19) fixed to the leaves (2, 3) are joined by cables (21, 22).
