A 180 deg. protractor is mounted on the table of a machine tool to allow a workpiece or vice to be positioned at a particular angle. A rigid assembly is provided by fastening it directly to the table. A protractor (1) in the form of a half disc is graduated to 180 degs. A short ruler is located in a groove on the machine tool table and is retained by two ball press retainers with threaded bodies. Graduations across the ruler allow its alignment with the scale on the protractor to which it is attached by a locking screw and rotational axis. At the zero position the flat edge of the protractor and the rule are aligned. This allows the workpiece or vice to be positioned against the protractor edge to be rotated as the protractor is rotated to the desired angle.
