PURPOSE:To hold a load side power factor approx. 100% by selectively regulating the reactance value of a single phase or a polyphase reactor inserted into an AC line by a control means on the basis of a detection signal from a power factor detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A line current in a master line 4 becomes a leading current due to a capacitor disposed in a discharge ballast 6. This current is detected by a detector 7, and triac driving circuits 3X, 3Y, 3Z are driven by the controller 3a of a 3-phase reactor unit 3 on the basis of a detection signal proportional to a power factor. Triacs TA1, TA2,...TA9 are conducted or opened, reactances inserted in parallel with the line 4 are increased or decreased, and core reactors X1-X9 are selectively regulated in balance. Thus, a leading current flowing to the line 4 is compensated to always hold the load side power factor of a generator 1 approx. 100% of high power factor. |
