For producing edge linings (1) for sports goggles (3), a flexible polyurethane foam is used which has been made hydrophilic by heat treatment at 150 to 220 DEG C and compression to 20 to 50% of the starting thickness. Outstanding sweat absorption capacity and sweat retention capacity of the edge lining are thereby achieved. <IMAGE>
