The domestic appliance has an electrically driven cutter and is used to prepare food by a rotary action. A discontinuity in the rotational characteristics allows a turbulence to be generated in liquids in order to emulsify them, thus eliminating the need for two separate appliances. Cutting blades (11) are fixed to a carrier (8) assembly by screws (15) and a spacer. The sharp edge (11a) is on the outside of the blade in the direction of rotation. A discontinuity is formed on the surface of the blade by small inclined areas (13) formed by cutting a tongue in the blade and by bending it towards the rotational axis. This tongue defines a rectangular opening in the blade which creates a turbulence at high potentional speeds to emulsify liquids.
