A new nucleoside I (R = carboxamidine, caeboxylic acid, carboxamide, methy1 formimidate, thiocarboxamide, carboxamidoxime, carboxamidrazone, and cyano) were prepd. Ribosylation of 4-acetamido-3-cyanopyrazolo [3,4-d pyrimidine followed by treatment with NaOMe gave I. Treatment of C(:NH)OMe(II) with NH3 and N2H4 gave 77% I(R=C(:NH)NH2) and 81.2% (RC(NH2):NNH2), resp. Treatment of II with NaOMe and H2S gave 81.3% I(RC(S)NH2) which was futher reacted with HgCl2 and Et3N DMF to give 42.6% I (R = CN)
