Fuel injection system for IC engine - has electromagnetic control elements feeding fuel from common chamber to individual nozzle

The fuel injection system has the entire quantity of fuel injected through the nozzles conveyed by a continuously-operating, fuel metering pump into a pressure chamber shared by all engine cylinders. From this pressure chamber the fuel is conveyed via electromagnetic control elements to the individual injection nozzles associated one with each cylinder. The phase and duration of the injection is controlled by electromagnetic pulses synchronised to the engine's shaft. The fuel pump is driven by the engine at a constant speed ratio. The quantity of fuel conveyed per unit time is proportional to the engine speed and to a variable dependent on the pump's setting.
