The long distance ski binding has a sole plate with a swivelling connection to a holding plate na dis capable of being locked to that holding late in a swivelled up position. The sole plate is fitted with side jaws in its front area standing perpendicular to it of which the holding sections gripping over the upper sole edges are angled. The sole plate is also fitted with openins to permit the passage of locking pirrs in the area of the front end of the ski boot sole. The locking pins are fixed to the holding plate projecting upwards. The sole plate (2) which extends only over the toe area of the ski boot is connectd to the holding plate rigidly fixed to the ski through the intermediary of a spring (3) which tends to hold the sole plate in a position swivelled up from the holding plate (1) up to the height of the locking pins (6).
