<p>A spark erosion machine has electro magnetic actuators to control the position between electrode and workpiece surface. The machine has a 'C' shaped frame (1) with a co-ordinate table (5), on which is mounted the workpiece (2) submerged in a dielectric fluid (3). A sliding spindle (6) carries a plattern (9) to which the electrode is secured. The spindle is supported on bearings (7,8) at either end and operates as the armature of an electrical linear motor with a drive coil (10). A separate coil (11) is used as a braking device. The co-ordinate table has two electrical actuators (12,13) to allow the horizontal position to be controlled.</p> |
