<p>A universal fitting mudflap has a curved upper extension to fit into the curve of the bottom of the car body. The extension is braced by a metal layer insert to provide rigidity and is clamped to the inside lip of the mudguard by a two part clamp (21, 23) secured by a single bolt or screw. The two cheeks of the clamp are angled away from the bolt head to hold the flap away from the tyre. The two cheeks have similar bends and overlapping outer edges to limit the amount of clamping action. The angled shape holds the bolt head away from the tyre and allows the flap to be fitted to different shapes of mudguard.</p> |
