Deflector circuit with amplifier for Braun tube - has limit of excitation region lower than that of deflection coil and uses additional voltage during high current change velocities

The deflection circuit is pref. used for the display of a radar system, but is also applicable to t.v. and Braun tube. It contains an amplifier (2) with a series connected deflection coil (1) of the tube. The amplifier output voltage does not exceeds its supply d.c. voltage, without exceeding a limit of its excitation region. This limit is of lower rating than the deflection coil voltage appearing at the highest possible current change velocity to be controlled. At least during the period of the high current change velocities an additional voltage can be series connected to the deflection coil for the latter voltage compensation in such manner that the uncompensated residue remains within the excitation region. Pref. the amplifier has ahigh natural output resistance within its excitation region due to its design. D.C. voltage transformer (U') may be used for series connection of the additional voltage, whose secondary winding (6) is in series with the deflection coil.
