Compsn. for desulphurising metal melts, esp. of pig iron and steel, consists of a CaC2/CaO crystal mixt., (A) formed in the melt and then comminuted and contg. 35-65 (40-60) wt.% CaC2, w.r.t. CaC2/CaO quantity. Mixt. (A) has a near-eutectic compsn. in system CaC2/CaO and can contain m.pt.-lowering fluxes, e.g. SiO2. Desulphurising mixt. consumption, w.r.t. CaC2, for desulphurising from 0.05- to 0.01% S is 30-40% lower than when using standard mixts. Treatment time is reduced. Temp. losses in melt are lower than those caused by desulphurising mixts. contg. gas-releasing additives. Coarser mixt. (A) grains can be used, thus obviating hydration hazards, Slag quantity formed is smaller.
|
