Removal of chitin-contg. shell of shellfish esp. grill and shrimps - by spiralling in abrasive-lined vessel together with water

Shellfish, esp. crill and shrimps are injected as a mixt. with water into a cylindrical vessel, the inner surface of which is lined with an abrasive material. Simultaneously a swirling flow is impacted to the water in the vessel and the chitin-contg. armour is removed from the fish. Pref. the swirling of the water is set up by directing a jet of water tangentially into the cylinder close to its bottom. This provides a means by which the shells of crill and shrimps can be removed continuously, quickly and economically.
