<p>Content of carboxylated NBR is >=5% dry wt. The synthetic fibres consist of glass, silicate, quartz, ZnO2, TiO2, boron carbide, metal or carbon, pref. Al silicate for low cost or Al2O3 for high performance. Length of fibres is 1-20 mm. The material may be reinforced with metal gauze or sheet. Prepn. is by mixing the fibres with rubber soln. or latex to a pasty consistency and converting to sheet or a calender or paper-making machine. Use of asbestos fibres with associated health hazards is avoided, while retaining the heat resistance.</p> |
