PURPOSE:To reduce the wearing of furnace refractory as well as to save energy by the procedure in which a heat-retaining cast pan is situated beneath the mouth of an inverted converter to retain its heat and then radiation heat from the mouth of the converter is received by the cast pan to reduce the radiation of heat from the converter body during downtime. CONSTITUTION:After the mouth 2 of the converter body 1 is turned upside down after the completion of molten steel discharge, and then the cast pan 3 is transferred by a truck and mounted beneath the mouth 2 of the converter, where the heat retaining ring 4 is put on the case pan 3 to prevent the radiation of heat from the aperture between the mouth 2 and the case pan 3 if the aperture between the mouth 2 and the cast pan 3 is great. The ring used is the one detachable from the cast pan and lined with the refractory lining material 5. Also, the cast pan 3 is preferably used immediately after being cast, or while being heated in red hot state. |
