PURPOSE:To apply the engine brakes automatically at the optimal time, by discriminating that braking is necessary when the engine load drops quickly and further drops below a preset level in a certain time from the quick drop. CONSTITUTION:A signal from a load sensor 102 in accordance with the state of a throttle valve is put out into a load fluctuation detecting circuit 103 which generates a signal in accordance with the load drop. Comparing this signal with a reference value by a comparator 104, the output exceeding the reference level is sent to a compensating circuit 106 through a time adjusting circuit 105. When a signal from a load detecting circuit 107 is put in it, the compensating circuit 106 generates a signal to a transmission control circuit 110 which puts out a signal commanding up-shift or down-shift to a transmission gear 10 in accordance with the output of a vehicle speed sensor 102. |
