Sleep inhibiting device for vehicle driver - provides alerting noise when driver's head drops forward by using position-dependent switch

The device comprises a hoop which fits over the driver's head and to which a position-dependent switch (2) is attached. The switch (2) is connected in the current circuit (5) of a sound source (7), which is used to alert the driver when his head starts to drop forward in sleep. Pref. the position-dependent switch (2) comprises a cylindrical mercury capsule with two contacts (3, 3') at opposite ends and located at different levels, so that the contacts are bridged by the mercury when the capsule is tipped by a given amount. The switch (2) may be coupled to the sound source circuit via a coil flex with a jack-plug at the end fitting into a socket in the vehicle dashboard of a separate casing for the device.
