Actuation of shutter of car air conditioning system - employs slotted lever which locks shutter in each extreme position

The air conditioning system of a motor vehicle has a duct (6) of rectangular cross section which can be closed by a pivoting shutter (1). When the duct (6) is fully open a port (5) in the side of the duct is closed. The shutter (1) is actuated by a Bowden cable (20) connected to a first lever (10) which actuates a slotted lever (9) mounted on the shutter spindle (4). The first lever (10) has a pin (17) which engages a curved slot (16) with two notches at one end. One of these notches locks the shutter (1) in the duct open position whilst the curved portion of the slot locks the shutter in the duct closed position.
