<p>The rudder has a main blade (2), supported from its upper part only, with its leading edge (12) level with, or behind its axis of rotation. Lower down it has two brackets (3, 4) projecting beyond that axis, housing the spindle bearings for a balanced auxiliary rudder (6). A pin (9) on a crank fixed to an extension from the top of this rudder spindle (5) slides in a slot in an arm (10) at the foot of a shaft (11) carried along the main rudder leading edge. The tiller is mounted on this shaft.</p> |
