The valve fits onto a vessel containing fluid and meters doses from it to a receiver unit. It may be used with a subcutaneous syringe. It has a union (35) for connection to the syringe etc. and which can be actuated on connection so as to open the valve (1) and deliver fluid. The valve has an integral cover masking (4) the union before use for the first time. The valve can be of the dispensing type, delivering from a vessel to an infusion tube.
