<p>The device for minimising tip vortices from aircraft wings, ships rudder or boat ballast kell is in the form of a rotor streamlined relative to its axis of rotation, mounted at or near the vortex origin. The rotor axis may be parallel to the vortex core, or at an angle to this. An internal power unit drives the rotor in opposition to the vortex rotation about a spindle fixed to the vortex-creating structure. The rotor may protrude beyond this at front or back or end level with it. Where appropriate, the power unit is reversible.</p> |
