<p>The device includes a drive unit comprising worms and wormwheels; each wormwheel is employed to move a spindle which exerts pressure on a roll chock; and the drive unit may be mounted above, below or in the roll stand. The drive unit includes lubricant chambers and air vent channels, all of which are arranged so the unit can be employed on any type of rolling mill, i.e. using horizontal-, vertical-, or tilting-stands. One pref. drive unit includes a housing provided with three lubricant chambers, two of which are located inside the housing and fitted with seals used according to the type of stand on which the drive unit is employed. The third lubricant chamber is located outside the housing.</p> |
