<p>PURPOSE:To make a vacuum column needless to start and stop a tape well by constituting the system so that the tape may be decelerated as it is when an inter block gap is detected in a prescribed speed section. CONSTITUTION:In case that an error is detected in data block D, the driving signal is cut off at point P1, and magnetic tape 7 stops at point P2. Counter 17 counts tachometer pulses to record the distance between points P1 and P2. Next, tape 7 is caused to run reversely, and magnetic tape control unit 16 reads out data block D and cuts off the driving signal when an inter block gap is detected. Point P4 indicates the inter block gap detection point. As the result, the magnetic tape stops at point P5; and when the magnetic tape runs forward again to reach point P6, contents of counter 17 become zero and re-read of data block D is performed, thus making good tape starting and stopping possible.</p> |
