Self contained lighting device independent of any energy source or recharge other than direct sun radiation. It comprises a plurality of photo-voltaic cells which provide electric power to a storage battery (AC) through a voltage control device. The storage battery (AC) provides the electric power required for the operation of one (or several) fluorescent tube(s) (TU) of small output via a static direct/alternating converter (OND) and a control device for controlling the discharge of the storage cells. The proposed forms of execution allow to provide effectively excellent reliability, operating light and maintenance by means of an appropriate mechanical and electric structure and particularly an effective thermal and mechanical protection of the active elements. The invention may be used for the lighting of fixed or moving housing, camping tents, boats, emergency stations or any isolated location. In form a portable lamp, it may be used for the above-mentioned applications and in general as an emergency lamp in isolated locations or capable of becoming isolated, provided that the direct solar radiation is sufficient. |
