The pedometer finds application in different forms of physical exercise, e.g. long distance running, jumping, wrestling, jogging etc. It counts the number of repeated movements, e.g. steps, and provides a read-out of the corresp. total number of movements, e.g. the distance covered, and the quantity of calories consumed. A pendulum (2) mounted on a circular base swings at each step and causes a ci rcular indicator (3) with a peripheral cylindrical scale section showing the number of steps by its rotation. A proportional diagram on the face of the circular indicator shows the relationship between the number of steps and the degree of exercise. The pedometer components are contained in a circular housing (6) with a peripheral window (7) for viewing the scale showing the number of steps and a window (8) on one face for viewing the proportional diagram. The latter window carries scale markings (9).
|
