<p>A method and apparatus for performing the method of connecting a basin (13) deep-drawn from metal sheet to the basin opening (11) of a frame (10) formed of metal sheet, without a visible seam by a welding process. The basin has a surrounding rim (16) which is connected to the upper edge of the vertical wall (14) of the basin by an arcuate portion and which is located under the rim of the basin opening. Initially, the rim of the basin opening projects by means of a free edge (12) beyond the rim of the basin towards the centre of the basin. The projecting part of the free edge of the basin opening is united by melting with the arcuate portion between the vertical wall and the rim of the basin by using a rare gas electric arc welding method without additional work material being employed therewith.</p> |
