PLASTICIZED PITCH COMPOSITION

A coal tar pitch having a softening point of from 40 to 75.degree.C (Kramer-Sarnow) is plasticized by the incorporation of from 50 to 20 % by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of a high crystal content coal tar fraction predominantly boiling between 350 and 450.degree.C. This plasticized pitch may be used in admixture with a bitumen having an average penetration at 25.degree.C of from 10 to 50 to produce a material having sufficient resistance to deformation for use as a road surface material.
