1465258 Hydrogenating aromatic hydrocarbons BAYER AG 24 June 1975 [25 June 1974] 26718/75 Heading C5E Cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons are prepared by hydrogenating aromatic hydrocarbons in the gas phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal selected from Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir and Pt carried on a support containing lithium aluminium spinel. The support may also contain alumina. The catalyst bed may be at a temperature of 100-350‹ C. Examples describe the hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexane and of toluene to methylcyclohexane.
