The installation comprises a first frame (1) from which a cleaning product is sprayed and a second frame (2) from which a rinsing liquid is sprayed in order to remove the cleaning product. A buried loop detector (5) located upstream and downstream of the first frame (1), controls the spraying of the cleaning product. When the front of the vehicle enters the upstream zone of the detector (5) spraying commences and when the rear leaves it it stops. In order to ensure perfect synchronisation of cleaning and rinsing, delay means are associated with the detector (5), which prevent rinsing of the vehicle for a predetermined period starting from the moment at which the rear of the vehicle leaves the detector (5). <IMAGE>
