<p>PURPOSE:To permit leak detection with high accuracy and simplified operation as compared with the conventional methods by the procedure in which an adsorptive gas with ventilating gas is introduced into a filter in a pulsating state and the rate of leakage is calculated from the concentration curve of adsorptive gas measured at the outlet continuously. CONSTITUTION:In the detection of leak for a filter packed with a release-preventing adsorbent for radioative iodine, etc., an adsorptive gas with ventilating gas is introduced into the filter in a pulsating state and at the same time the concentration of adsorptive gas at the outlet of the filter is measured continuously. In case where there exists some leak, the first peak A is detected and then the second peak due to the release of the adsorptive gas held up in the adsorbent is obperved, so that the leak rate can be easily calculated by using the areas of the peaks A and B from the equation 1. Thus, the introduction time is shortened, adsorbnt is not deteriorated, and leakage is accurately detected.</p> |
