PURPOSE:To ensure the easy and high-efficiency detection for the minute damaged fuel in a simple constitution by forming the magnetic field of the magnetic flux vertical to the flow of passing gas within the chamber where the charged wire or tape passes through. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field of the magnetic flux vertical to the passing gas is formed within chamber 10 where the charged wire or tape 12 is made to pass through or shifted. For instance, negatively charged wire 12 is made to pass movably through the center part of chamber 10 along with inlet 14 and outlet 16 installed. At the same time, scintillator 18 to which photomultiplier tube 22 is attached via light guide 20 is provided adjacently to chamber 10. Then magnet 24 is distributed outside chamber 10, and thus magnetic field BZ featuring the distribution characteristics as shown in the diagram is formed within chamber 10. In such way, the charged particle of the nuclear fission product can be enclosed selectively by the magnetic function and to the neutral particle. Thus the efficiency can be increased for the precipitation.
