Aeration of effluent streams in sludge process - using circulating system with downward liquid flow onto pure oxygen distribution pipes

Effluent is treated in biological sludge system which requires aerobic bacteria. The O2 level of the liquor is maintained by injecting O2. Optimum absorption is achieved by creating a downwards liquid flow onto the O2 distribution pipes, counter to the upward flow of bubbles. The flow is achieved by the use of an impeller inside a central pipe. The pipe has a baffle over the top to divert the upwards flow sidewards and downwards. At the base is conical diverter to draw in liquid from the base up the pipe. In this way a recirculation is achieved. Used for treatment of municipal sewage etc. Process gives the best possible utilisation of the available O2.
