Textile-based belting is made with a flat or tubular fabric base (1) in which one or more zone (a,b,c) lack warp threads so that, by passing the fabric through an extruder (4), the open-mesh zones can be enclosed and bridged by a matrix material (9,10). For mfr. of conveyors for materials handling, requiring good tensile strength and dimensional stability with a carrying surface which is flexible, wear-resistant and with appropriate surface friction characteristics.
