<p>An i.c. engine compression tester has a pressure measurement device (7) connected to an ignition plug boring (4) gives accurate indication of individual defects or wear symptoms without dismantling the engine. A pressure measurement device to plug boring adaptor (5) contains a tapping for a pipe (10) leading to a pressurised gas source (11) with a pressure regulator. The chambers or ducts connected to the combustion chamber (9) may be connected to flow measurement devices (21, 22, 23, 15). These include the exhaust and inlet ports and the crankcase. A flow measurement device (18) is also connected in the pressurised gas feed pipe (10). All flow meters are connected to an evaluation circuit. The device may also be used to aid valve seating by application of pressurised gas to hold the valve closed during grinding-in.</p> |
