The worm compressor comprises a main worm rotor meshing with a secondary worm rotor. The flanks of the teeth of the rotor as seen in a section at right angles to the rotor axis are largely defined by circular arcs. The ratio of rotor centre distance to dia. of the main rotor is pref. 0.7 - 0.75. The teeth radii and corresponding angles are defined as a function of the rotor centre distance. The radius is greater than the tooth tip radius.
