<p>The collector contains a heat absorber, and is mounted on the top and/or on the shank of a pillar, which is hollow and contains the feed and return pipe for the water or other heat transfer medium. The hollow pillar may also carry electric cables and control cables, and may also possess thermal insulation. The heat absorber pref. consists of black flexible hose through which the water or other heat transfer medium flows; alternatively a medium which is dyed black may flow through a transparent hose. Alternatively, heat exchanger tubes can be used. The pillars may also carry lamps. By using hollow pillars, the collectors can be located high above the ground and only require a very small ground area; they therefore cast no shadows during the day, and can be located between trees, on lawns, and/or next to swimming pools. The pillars can be located directly above underground heat storage reservoirs.</p> |
