The mass of wax or stearin with a wick is set in a burner vessel (7). It has on its underneath side at least one downwardly tapering projection (11) which engages with a close fit in at least on one downwardly tapering recess (12) provided in supports on the table frame at the points where the sacrificial candles are to be set up. The projection can also engage in the upper end face of a cylindrical or other shaped tube which is designed to take candle-like lamps. The burner vessels can now be easily placed on the supports or cylinders even by the elderly or infirm people wherein the vessels are automatically centred. The burner vessels placed inside the cylinders give the appearance of natural candles.
