The connection device is for the interior of a pressure-type coal gasifier whose metal wall is lined with refractory material which is to be linked to an external measuring instrument. A pipe (17) connected to the interior (19) extends only halfway through the lining (11) to a recess (21) formed in the latter. A further pipe (15) connected to the recess and offset from the first one, passes through the wall (10) to the instrument, being so positioned that no appreciable radiation from inside of the gasifier can penetrate into it. A tubular sleeve (20) may surround, on the metal gasifier wall, the pipe penetrating to the recess.
