The motor vehicle bumper comprises a U-section bumper bar (1) which is secured to the vehicle by a carrier (5) extending to between the flanges (3) of the U-section. Here it is fixed to the flanges by a screw connection (17), permitting vertical adjustment of the bumper bar relative to the carrier. The shaft of the screw extends through a distance bush (12) arranged between the flanges which bush can be rotated from the outside via an insert (16) extending through the lower flange. This rotation causes vertical movement of a bearing (7) on the carrier through which the screw passes.
