Laminated ski body incorporates >=1 core layer of rigid material, (e.g. a rigid foam) having one or both faces covered with a layer of rubber reinforced internal by an array of twisted cord cables. The reinforced rubber layer damps flexural vibration whilst being resistant to longitudinal strai or to breaking. Specific claims include structures with a core having a density of 1000 g/dm3, and interlayers of either thermoplastics or vulcanised rubbers reinforced with steel cables having a tensile strength of >=2000 N/mm2, an elastic modulus of >=7 x 106 N/mm2 and an elongation to break of 1.5-8%. Opt. the core is enclosed by or covered on both faces with a layer oof unreinforced rubber and an interlayer of reinforced rubber is incorporated between the core and part of one face of the ski. The faces of the ski are covered with conventional metal or plastics (polyethylene, ABS) strip profiles.
|
