<p>The paddle (1) is mounted on a bracket (9, 10) fitted to the transom (11) of the vessel. The bracket holds a universal joint (4) consisting of a ring (6) fitted with a diametral pin (5) which passes through the paddle boom (2). The paddle can move from front to back and rotate from left to right. The end of the boom has a tiller (12) mounted on a swivel joint. The paddle is able to feather around the swivel on the return stroke.</p> |
